Fernhill Records
Tactile motion identity & vinyl packaging for an analogue listening bar.
Fernhill Records is an independent vinyl record label and warm listening space in Edinburgh. The motion identity is anchored in analogue rituals: felt platters rising, paper sleeves sliding, needle drops, and tactile letterpress stamps. Zero digital synthetic whooshes.
Analogue vinyl demands presence.
“You slide the disc from its sleeve, align the spindle, drop the needle, and listen to an entire side without skipping. The motion identity reflects that physical ritual: mechanical timing, paper texture, and deliberate patience.”
The full ritual.
The 24-second flagship film. A turntable platter settles on the table, the vinyl record slides out of its sleeve to the spindle, and the stylus drops into the groove with a deep signature thump and oxblood flash at 8.5 seconds.
Stamped for physical release.
A modular 10-second release template for social and retail announcements. The LP sleeve slides into view, the disc emerges, and typewriter tracklists stamp onto torn cream cards with tactile mechanical foley.

Authored for vertical social stories and physical portrait display totems at the Edinburgh listening bar entrance.
Subtle micro-drift on the tonearm tracking against a seamless vinyl surface hiss bed. Designed for stream backdrops, digital album previews, and website banners.
The analogue system.
